Master Database editors
The menu maintains the shared master catalogue
used by every project.
Edit-Add-Delete Items in SoR F1
Browse, add, edit and delete items in the Schedule-of-Rates lists and in the
non-schedule items list.
- Pick a source from the dropdown. Add is enabled only for ‹New Item›,
which stores into the non-schedule items list.
- Clicking a row only views it (fields locked); press Edit to change it, then Save.
- When adding, declare the Item Level — Parent, Sub-Parent or
Leaf. Only a Leaf has a Unit and Rate (and can have a rate analysis); Parent /
Sub-Parent are header rows.
- After adding a Leaf non-schedule item you are offered to add its rate analysis
right away, which opens the AoR editor on that item.
- Deletion order: delete the lowest leaf first, then the sub-parent, then the
parent. An item that still has children cannot be deleted.
Edit-Add-Delete AoR in Master DB F2
Define the analysis of rates (material / labour / sub-items) for an item. A
Source dropdown (the schedules plus the non-schedule items list) scopes the item
list, so you can analyse non-schedule items too. The row Unit is a dropdown from the
master unit list. Click Edit, add rows, then Save.
Edit-Add Basic Material-Labour-Machinery F3
Edits the master basic-rates catalogue only. Each code must be unique. Codes fall
into categories (Hire / Machinery, Labour, Material) by a defined code range, indicated on
the form; clicking a row highlights the matching category tab.
The catalogue opens for viewing; changing it is a vendor act — press
Enable editing (vendor)… on the banner and enter the vendor password.
Edit-Add-Delete Units Ctrl+U
Maintains the unit list. Click a row to view it, Edit to change, Add for a
new unit. Serial numbers stay unique and in sequence; unit names and short forms must be
unique.
Edit-Add-Delete Sub-Head (Chapter)
Maintains the chapters/sub-heads. Chapter No. is the key (unique, set only when adding);
press Edit to change the title.
Testing Frequency (mandatory tests)
The CPWD list of mandatory material tests behind the Mandatory Test page and the Mandatory
Test Statement (see Bills). Two things set it apart from the editors
above: it belongs to the open project rather than the master catalogue, so each work can
carry its own departmental revisions; and because of that it is not on the Master DB menu
— reach it with edit test list at the top of the Mandatory Test page. A project that
has never edited the list opens on the built-in CPWD defaults; saving makes them the
project’s own.
- A row with a blank Test is a material heading — it groups the tests under
it and carries the Basic Code(s) whose consumed quantity drives them, for example Cement
0367 0368 or Coarse Aggregates 0293 0295. Leave
the codes empty for a material that is not a basic material (concrete is the analysed product,
not an input) and its quantity is then entered on the bill.
- Give a test either a Freq Qty + Unit — one test per that many
units, e.g. 50 T for cement — or a Period when it is not quantity-based,
e.g. “3 Months” or “Daily before pour”.
- Rows save in the order shown, and that is the printing order. Blank rows at the foot of the
grid are there to add tests; clear a row’s Material to delete it. Show
hides a row without deleting it, and Restore CPWD defaults discards this project’s
customisations.
